Communication and Interaction

We will be starting our term reading the sensory story ‘The 3 little pigs’ We will be listening to the repetitive phrases from the characters and exploring the different objects, photographs and symbols that support our texts. Pupils will be focusing on identifying and noticing farm animal sounds as part of the story. We will take part in a range of sensory walks in and around school, make choices and matching objects, photographs and symbols. We will then be reading Funnybones and listing to the different rhythms within the text, before following with Stickman through until Christmas.

Cognition and Learning

 

We will investigate putting things in and taking things out of containers in a range of real-life contexts. We will link parts our stories to our cognition sessions, such as exploring and matching colours and noticing size.

We will spend time in the ICT suite, exploring a range of resources and looking at how we can control a range of items, using switches, the magic carpet and the sensory pod.

Physical and Sensory 

This term we will be learning how different parts of our body move through our body awareness sessions.

We will be exploring a range of different textures such as straw, sticks and bricks. We will be choosing which texture we would like to use to make different houses.

We will then be exploring a range of dry and wet substances such as coco powder to make patterns.

This term we have the wonderful Simon for music sessions so we will be exploring how different musical instruments sound and enjoying live music each week.

Social, Emotional and Mental Health

 

We will be going outside for walks to learn about the changes in the seasons. We will be looking at the different colours and using our senses to explore the things we find.

We will be using mirrors to look at ourselves and learn about our face and how our body moves. We will also be practising taking turns with our friends through a range of activities. We will be learning new songs and rhymes based around our texts.

Red class will also spend time looking at special days and festivals and how we celebrate these.
